Why Retailers Need Digital Signage

Digital signage is quickly jumping into the retail scene and becoming a critical marketing tool for store operators. As a matter of fact, in the Q1 2010 Digital Signage Expo Quarterly Business Barometer, the survey’s respondents believe that the retail market will have the highest digital signage adoption growth among all markets this year. Based on these statistics, it is clear that retailers will need to start taking advantage of this rapidly growing trend to stay ahead of the game.  Here is the first of our two-part blog series that breaks down six reasons why we think digital signage is becoming a MUST for retailers.

Promote New Products

Your business depends on making sure your clients understand what you are selling. Fliers or static signs no longer effectively convey the new products you have available at your store. Imagine adding audio and video to your signs to quickly explain the details of your new product offering, not to mention being able to cut the costs of having to constantly print traditional signs.  As soon as you receive your new product, you can add product related media to your sign along with pricing and promotions. All this in a matter of minutes! Save time, save money, and get incredible turnaround time in launching a new product marketing campaign. It doesn’t get any easier!

Customer Education

Educating your customer can be the single biggest challenge in running any business. It is critical to your bottom line that your customers are aware of new promotions, store policies, item locations, holiday hours, and so on. How does a customer who just walked into your store soak all this in without having to deal with an aggressive salesperson? Digital signage works wonders in educating your clients in the least intrusive ways. Have store policies displayed on the screen at the same time as showing a product demonstration video, or show your holiday hours along with the details of your upcoming clearance sale. Whatever you think of that can help inform your customer, your digital signage application will allow you to accomplish it.

Window Placement

Digital signage is giving a new meaning to the term “window shopping”. By placing a digital sign at your storefront behind a window, you can capture attention that would have otherwise been missed.  You can have just about any type of media used in your sign to get the average passer-by to turn his head. Once they’re staring at the sign, you can use dozens of strategies to promote new products or create solid brand recognition.

Many retailers using digital signage (Cable Rod System)  are now playing movies on one portion of the sign while displaying advertisements on other portions.  Entertaining while educating is a great way to capitalize on outside foot traffic and convert casual passers-by into paying customers.
