Wrap Your Head Around NEC’s New Curved Monitor
A Thing Of Beauty
The NEC CRV43 curved display will be introduced at InfoComm 09 on June 17 in Orlando, Fla. At a street price of $7,999, it’s not targeted at the casual consumer but aimed at an audience of professional graphics, higher-education, government, financial and home-office users.
“I can see government resellers finding homes for these for flight and military training,” said a company spokesperson.
What You Get For All That Dough
The CRV43 has a native 2,880 x 900 pixel resolution, a typical response time of less than 0.02ms, a dynamic range of 12-bit (4096 levels), 68.7 billion colors and a typical contrast ratio of less than 10,000:1.
Baby’s Got Back
This baby weighs in at 45.5 pounds. According to NEC, the monitor is easily set up with one input, eliminates bezel and screen gap issues, does not have data or window interference, and features On Screen Display (OSD) and software-based GUI — enabling advanced display control options.
Hotter Than July
The CRV43’s electronics suite is comprised of a single link DVI-D input, HDMI 1.3 input, USB 2.0 connectivity and front panel controls.
In other words, sweet! The monitor is slated for a July release.
